The surgery is carried out under general anaesthesia, and the adjustment is performed once the patient is awake, under local anaesthesia, at the bedside. The BCH team have performed the largest number of cases in the UK, attracting referrals from the UK and Europe.

Mr Parulekar is a national and international expert in children’s eyelid surgery. He has a very busy practice in the management of children’s eyelid disorders and has considerable experience in the treatment of ptosis & rare conditions like blepharophimosis syndrome, eyelid colobomas & Marcus Gunn jaw winking ptosis. He has one of the busiest pediatric enucleation and post
enucleation socket reconstruction practice in Europe, and attracts referrals from all over the UK and abroad.
He conducts training workshops on Eyelid and Orbital disorders, and Ptosis surgery for ophthalmologists at the American Association of Paediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus annual meetings and at the World Congress of Paediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus.
